Full Food Trailer Wrap for Cantinas Cartinas in Hitchin
Wrapping a food trailer with a giant food wrap felt almost too obvious.
So naturally, we did it.
For Cantinas Cartinas, we completely refreshed a converted food trailer in Hitchin, removing the existing wrap, restoring the exposed metalwork and covering the body in a full printed vinyl design inspired by the food itself.
Big ingredients. Crumpled foil. Plenty of colour.
Exactly what a street food trailer should be doing.

From tired trailer to travelling brand.
Food trailers have a slightly harder job than most vehicles.
They need to transport the business.
Then become the business when they arrive.
For Cantinas Cartinas, that meant creating something bold enough to stand out at markets, events and busy trading locations while still making the food and brand immediately clear.
The concept takes inspiration directly from the product, with oversized ingredients, toasted flatbread and crumpled silver foil wrapping around the trailer itself.
A food wrap.
Wrapped around a food trailer.
We are still quite pleased with that one.
First, take everything off.
Before the new graphics could go anywhere near the trailer, the old wrap had to come off.
The existing vinyl was carefully removed so we could assess and prepare the surfaces underneath.
This stage matters more than people tend to think.
A new wrap is only as good as the surface it is being applied to, so old adhesive, tired graphics and anything likely to affect the finish need dealing with before the fun bit starts.
We also restored the trailer’s exposed metalwork back towards its original silver finish, giving the frame, trims and surrounding details a cleaner base to sit alongside the new design.
Less glamorous than the finished photos.
Quite important.
Printed from edge to edge.
The main design was produced as a full printed wrap, covering the trailer with high-impact photographic graphics.
The food imagery runs across large sections of the body, using scale to make the trailer feel almost like an enormous wrapped meal.
The base graphics were finished with a matt laminate, helping protect the print while giving the main surfaces a softer, more tactile appearance.
That also gave us the opportunity to introduce another layer.
Matt here. Gloss there.
Rather than giving every surface exactly the same finish, we overlaid selected areas with gloss printed graphics.
The contrast between matt and gloss creates subtle changes in texture across the trailer, helping individual brand elements and details stand out without needing to add more colour or visual clutter.
It is one of those details that is more noticeable in person than in a photograph.
Which is often a good sign.
The effect gives the graphics more depth and makes the finished trailer feel considered rather than simply covered.
Design around the thing, not over it.
Trailers are full of interruptions.
Doors. Hinges. Serving hatches. Metal rails. Wheel arches. Corners. Rivets.
So a full trailer wrap needs to be planned around the physical object from the beginning.
The Cantinas Cartinas artwork was positioned so the larger food photography remained visually continuous while the branding, contact details and supporting graphics stayed clear across each face of the trailer.
Even where the artwork crosses panels and structural elements, the overall image still reads as one piece.
That is the difference between making artwork the right size and actually designing for a vehicle.
Built to sell before the hatch even opens.
The finished trailer now works as a large piece of branded advertising wherever it goes.
The food photography communicates what Cantinas Cartinas is about almost instantly, while the yellow brand strip, logos, contact details and social information give customers everything else they need.
From a distance, you see food.
Closer up, you see the brand.
Then hopefully you order something.
Good system.
